CITY, N.D.(NewsDakota.com) Valley City hosted Kindred in a league double header on Tuesday night. Both games were highly contested by both teams, but it was Kindered who came away with a 2-0 win in game one, and an 11-5 win in game two.
The first match up was a pitcher’s duel between Valley City’s Jaden Keys and Kindred starter, Fletcher Andel. Keys was strong on the mound allowing just four hits in a complete game, but the night belonged to Kindred’s ace. Andel struck out 12 batters keeping Valley City off of the score board. Kindred put up the first run of the game in the sixth when Tyson Tallakson scored Christian Danilson on a RBI single. One inning later, Tanner Thompson would cross the plate sealing the 2-0 victory for Kindred in game one.
What the first game was to defense, the second game was to offense. Kindred played the role of the home team in the second contest, and they looked right at home, getting to the Valley City pitchers for 14 total hits. Valley City had 15 hits in the game, but left nine runners stranded on the base paths. With eight runs in the first three innings, Kindred held a solid lead heading into the second half of the game. Valley City tried to muster the comeback, pulling to within three runs of Kindred in the fifth, but in the bottom of the inning, Kindred pulled away once more with three runs of their own. That would be the end of the scoring, as Kindred took game two 11-5 over Valley City.
The next Post 60 broadcast will be on July 23rd when Valley City plays in the Section One tournament.
