(NewsDakota.com)- Last time West Fargo’s Camran Bonnema pitched at Jack Brown Stadium he threw a no-hitter, this time he couldn’t even get out of the fourth inning. Anthony Cook’s three-run homer was the finally dagger dealt to Bonnema in a 9-4 win for Jamestown Post 14 last night. West Fargo was able to grab a split with a 11-5 win in game two.
Bonnema threw a no-hitter in the opening round of the state tournament against Jamestown in the school ball season while striking out 10 batters. Riley Schafer started the Post 14 attack with a base-hit which helped Jamestown out to a 2-0 lead. Bonnema got ahead of Schafer 0-2 and then Schafer slapped an off-speed pitch to right for the first hit.
The Patriots responded with three on their own runs to make 3-2 in the second inning with three straight hits, two for extra bases, to start the inning. Post 14 did not blink, they added three run in the bottom of the inning and after three the score stood 5-3 in favor of Jamestown.
West Fargo was able to close the gap to one run, before Cook’s three-run round-tripper gave Wenzel some breathing room.
In game two, West Fargo got six quick runs against starter Joey Gebhardt on their way to an 11-5 win.
West Fargo came into the game as the top-team in Class A ahead of the Minot Vistas, who split their doubleheader against Dickinson last night.
Jamestown is now 16-9 and will host the Post 14 Invite this weekend. Post 14 will play at 2pm and 7pm on Friday night, 7pm on Saturday, and 12:30pm on Sunday.
Next broadcast is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24th in Fargo when Jamestown plays Post 2.
