CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Federal Emergency Management Agency will not be assisting Valley City residents and businesses whose property was destroyed or damaged from the June 20 rain fall event.

Barnes County Emergency Manager Kim Franklin said the Presidential Disaster Declaration covers weather related events in North Dakota from May 17 through June 16.

Franklin said 206 homes in Valley City were affected by the storm. She said 7 were destroyed, 20 suffered major damage, 49 had minor damage and another 65 homes were affected by the storm.

Franklin said 2 Valley City businesses had major damage, one with minor damage and 2 others were also affected by the June 20 storm. Franklin said 8 residents needed temporary housing and a few are still staying in local motels.

Franklin said 4 rural homes near Roger, North Dakota received damaged from overland flooding from the June 20 storm.
