CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Enderlin stood strong earning a tight 8-7 victory over Valley City in Wednesday night’s Legion baseball match up at Charlie Brown Field.
Enderlin Post 221 wasted no time putting runs on the score board. Leadoff man Dalton Bartholomay hit a home run in his first at bat giving the visitors the early lead. A three run second inning made it look like the night would belong solely to Enderlin. That didn’t last long, however, Post 60 pitcher Jaden Keys helped himself out by starting Valley City’s half of the inning with a leadoff single. Later, his courtesy runner Austin Berg would come around to score. Teammate Andrew Glaser followed close behind and cut Enderlin’s lead to just two runs.
As the game progressed to the fifth inning, Valley City trailed by three runs. Post 60’s Ben Baasch and Bret Stearns earned their way on base with two singles. Keys took care of the rest driving both runners home with a double. As before, Keys would get Berg as his courtesy runner, who would later score on a hard hit ball by Spence Meyer. When the inning came to a close, Valley City held a 7-5 lead.
In the Sixth, Post 221’s Daniel Lindgren hit a two RBI double, that would lead to the game winning run when he made his way home on a wild pitch. That would prove to be more then Valley City could handle as they finished the night falling 8-7 to Enderlin.
Valley City Returns to action Thursday, July 11th when they host Harwood for a 6pm start at Charlie Brown field in Valley City.
