CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Evidence from some active criminal cases in Valley City was lost during a storm after water popped out two basement windows and flooded the Law Enforcement Center basement on June 20. Police Chief Fred Thompson said a sealed vault would have protected the evidence.
Thompson said the basement windows were used to extract lead during a removal process earlier this year. He said the windows were a few days away from being cemented in when a storm with torrential rain hit Valley City.
Thompson said evidence from current and future cases is being stored at a safe and secured location.
