(NewsDakota.com)  The Carrington Fire Department responded to a car VS tanker truck today around 12:50pm on US Highway 281 and 3rd street, 1 block south of Super Value.  The accident closed Highway 281 for about a half hour while crews cleaned up the scene.

The driver had to be extricated from the car, Carrington Fire Department removed the drivers side door to get the driver out.  Injuries were reported, the extent unknown at this time.  No other people were in the car, the driver was not wearing a seat belt and the airbag deployed.  The driver was transported to Carrington Health Center. 

The tanker truck was carrying gear oil, the tanker trailer had a break in it on the passengers side, but no oil leaked out.  The drive shaft of the truck was damaged in the accident as well.  Both the car and tanker had to be towed away.

Three fire trucks responded to the scene.
