Audrey Albrecht, 74, of Edgeley, ND, died Monday, July 8, 2013 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Audrey May (Flugga) Albrecht was born to Edna and Cleo Flugga on May 10, 1939 in Marion ND. She attended school in Marion where she was active in music and basketball. She then attended VCSU and was interested in music, was a twirling majorette and was in the EBC Hit Parade. She received her teaching certificate after her second year.
Audrey started teaching in Edgeley, and met and married Daniel Albrecht. Together they have two sons, Richard and Paul. She stayed home and raised the boys and substitute taught in Edgeley. Audrey then accepted a teaching position in Nortonville teaching 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade.
In 1975 she started working at the Edgeley Credit Union where she helped it grow into Dakota Plains Credit Union, which it is today. In her 30 year career she was active in many credit union organizations as well as civic and church groups. If that wasn’t quite enough, she was teacher’s aide at Edgeley Public School for 2 years. In her full time retirement, she enjoyed reading, coffee time and spending time fussing over her sons and grandkids. Audrey was always the first one to volunteer and go when someone needed her, always with a smile on her face and love in her heart. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. With Audrey, friends always became family and the kids she knew became hers.
Audrey is survived by her sons, Richard and Paul; her grandchildren, Cody, Claire, Matthew and Megan; siblings, Donna Nistler (husband, Stan Nistler) and Danny Flugga (wife, Gert Flugga).
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
