VCSU to offer two new M.Ed. concentrations in elementary education and English education
Valley City State University will begin offering two additional areas of concentration—elementary education and English education—in its online Master of Education (M.Ed.) program.
VCSU now offers six different options for its online master’s degree program in education. Elementary education and English education join the four existing M.Ed. offerings: teaching and technology, teaching English language learners (ELL), technology education, and library and information technologies.
“We’re excited about delivering the new master’s degrees in English education and elementary education,” said VCSU President Steven W. Shirley, “along with the new opportunities these offerings will provide to current and future VCSU students.”
The new master’s concentrations will help meet the increasing demand for graduate credentials in specific content areas required by teaching professionals for career and salary advancement. Like VCSU’s four other graduate concentrations, these two new programs will be offered entirely online—delivered via the Internet—and are geared toward serving the needs of in-service teachers.
VCSU’s online M.Ed. program was recently ranked number 22 among 143 programs nationally in the 2013 Top Online Graduate Education Programs by U.S. News & World Report. Both the undergraduate and grauate education programs at VCSU are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
