N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On June 29, the North Dakota Highway Patrol and the Sargent County Sheriff’s Office conducted a sobriety checkpoint west of Gwinner, ND on ND 13. The checkpoint was held from approximately 8 to 10 p.m.
Twenty-one vehicles passed through the checkpoint; five drivers had been consuming alcohol and were evaluated further for possible impairment. No drivers were arrested during the checkpoint.
The primary purpose of the sobriety checkpoint was to heighten awareness and to deter citizens from choosing to drink and drive.
Immediately following the checkpoint, NDHP troopers and Sargent County deputies patrolled the Sargent County area, focusing on apprehending alcohol-impaired drivers.
