CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A 24-year-old Fargo man is in custody after leading authorities on a high-speed chase that started in Fargo and ended east of Valley City. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says an officer tried to stop the suspect’s car in Fargo for alleged criminal activity. The driver fled the scene and led authorities on a chase with speeds reached up to 130 miles per hour along Interstate 94.
The chase continued until a Valley City police officer put tire deflating spikes on the Interstate as the suspect’s vehicle approached exit 294 east of the city just before noon Saturday. The vehicle went into the median and headed east toward exit 296 where he was arrest after he stopped and then rammed the squad cars of two Barnes County deputies going in reverse smoking the tires and pushing both cars. He was apprehended a few minutes later by 3 deputies at the scene.
A number of charges are pending against Larry Dean Jacobson Jr.
Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin said in a news release that the suspect allegedly was involved in a domestic fight in Fargo earlier. Then he was accused of busting out windows at a Stamart in north Fargo and at a First National Pawn.
The suspect then allegedly pushed a Fargo squad car with his vehicle and later almost hit a Cass County deputy at the fairgrounds in West Fargo before heading west on Interstate 94. Amazingly no one was injured in this incident.
