(NewsDakota.com) Carrington Post 25 was in action on Wednesday and Thursday at Carrington City Park against section two teams LaMoure and Wishek. On Wednesday, LaMoure Post 19 beat Carrington 9-5 in nine innings. The second game ended at a 6-6 tie in the seventh, the game was called due to darkness.
On Thursday, Carrington Post 25 swept Wishek Post 87 in five innings 14-1 by 10 run rule and 10-2 in the second game. Carrington’s overall record goes to 12-8-1, 5-3 in section two.
LaMoure 9 Carrington 5
In the first game on Wednesday, LaMoure Post 19 scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat Carrington Post 25. Roddy Gentzkow of LaMoure was 5-for-5 at the plate with a double. Chris Heinrich was the winning pitcher for LaMoure as he relieved Jared Mieklejohn who went six and 2-3 innings. Mieklejohn was 4-for-5 at the plate.
Carrington Post 25 scored one run in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at five. With two down, Taylor Skytland walked and then Brady Smith knocked him in on a RBI double. Patrick Freeman took the loss for Post 25, pitching all nine innings with five strikeouts. Freeman was 1-for-4 at the plate with a two RBI double in the third inning.
The second game was called in the seventh inning with a 6-6 tie because it was starting to get dark, both games combined lasted four hours and 20 minutes. LaMoure Post 19 overall record is 12-6-1, in Section 2 they are 7-1.
Carrington 14 Wishek 1
On Thursday June 27th in the first game, Carrington Post 25 sent 15 batters to the plate in the bottom of the first inning, scoring 10 runs on eight hits and defeated Wishek by 10 run rule in the fifth inning. Eight of the nine batters for Carrington had at least one hit, Peter Henson was 3-for-4, Taylor Skytland was 1-for-2 with a two RBI triple in the bottom of the first inning. Austin Hewitt was the only player without a hit, going 0-for-2 with a walk.
Logan Clifton got the win for Post 25, going five complete innings with eight strikeouts. Danny Saylor took the loss for Wishek Post 87. Saylor was 1-for-2 at the plate with two stolen bases and scored the only run on Elliot Weber’s base hit in the top of the fourth inning.
In game two, Carrington beat Wishek 10-2.
Wishek Post 87 drops to 4-4 overall and 3-3 in Section 2.
