(NewsDakota.com) The LaMoure and Oakes American Legion baseball team were able to earn wins against their competition on Tuesday night at home.
LaMoure Post 19 hosted Valley City Post 60 at Townsend Field sweeping the visitors 10-5 and 10-4. Game one saw Post 19 trail 1-0 after the first half inning, but never looking back. Every batter for Post 19 reached base, and Roddy Gentzkow earned the victory, allowing nine hits while striking out five. Brett Stearns took the loss for Post 60, lasting just three innings, allowing four runs on just a single hit while walking six.
In the second five-inning contest, LaMoure scored five runs off of five hits in both the second and third innings to coast to the victory. Anthony Olson registered the lone double of the contest for either team, with the victory going on the mound to Parker Stemen who struck out five and surrendered five hits. Jacob Miller went three innings for Post 60 allowing seven hits, while Dustin Miller had two hits offensively.
In a contest of two section two teams, Oakes Post 36 was victorious at home against Kidder County/Steele Post 231 9-7. Post 36 scored eight of their nine runs in the first inning. Kaleb Sell and Keaton Peterson each had doubles, while Cole Ehrlin earned the win with the save going to Cole Kelly.
