DAKOTA (NewsDakota.com) – May is usually the kickoff for construction season in North Dakota, and Job Service North Dakota’s Michael Zeisch says that always helps to strengthen the state’s workforce.
The not-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for May was 2.8 percent; Zeisch says it is currently the lowest unemployment rate in the country. He says it is slightly above May of 2012, which was 2.7 percent. Zeisch says the lowest May unemployment rate in North Dakota was 12 years ago, but today’s rate is still remarkable.
Zeisch says though the unemployment rate may come up again slightly in June that slight uptick would be typical as college graduates begin looking for work. North Dakota’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for May was 3.2 percent, compared to the nation’s 7.6.
