N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A man drowned after his pickup was swept off highway 32 near Gwinner yesterday by fast moving floodwaters. 48-year old James Materi of Lisbon called 911 to report he was trapped inside his pickup and couldn’t swim. Gwinner firefighters were on the scene within minutes, but Fire Chief Jeff Anderson says the swift current prevented them from getting Materi out.
Materi’s body and pickup were recovered in about 9-feet of water.
