Katherine White, 93, of Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at home in Jamestown.
Katherine Arlene Bollinger was born March 15, 1920, the daughter of Christ and Fredricka (Hein) Bollinger. She attended a rural school through the 5th grade, then had to quit to help on the family farm. Later, they moved to a farm north of Kulm, ND, then to a farm near Merricourt, ND. Katherine went to Fargo with her brother, Steve, and met Louis Callet. They lived on a farm and worked at a turkey plant in Frazee, MN. They were married on September 28, 1945 in Evergreen, MN. Louis died after they were married 11 years on January 1, 1956.
Katherine married Edward Plackner on June 24, 1957, in Detroit Lakes, MN. They moved to Wimbledon, ND in 1958, then to Kulm where they had their first child, Shelia Marie Plackner, born on Palm Sunday, March 22, 1959. They moved to Jamestown in 1963 where they made their home. Edward Plackner died on January 22, 1977. Katherine worked for City Laundry & Dry Cleaners for 16 years, then at Jamestown High School as a custodian for 4 years. Katherine married Miles White on august 2, 1980 in Jamestown. They were married for 10 years before Miles died in 1990. In December 1983, Katherine stayed home to take care of her first grandchild, Jennifer, and in December 1986 she cared for her second grandchild, Wendy. In 1995, Katherine started working in the Sunday School Nursery at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown every Sunday for 10 years. She entered Rock of Ages in August 2008, then to John and Shelia’s home in November 2009 where she was surrounded by family, treated special, and was read to every day by her great-granddaughter, Majestic. Katherine enjoyed visiting with friends and family, enjoyed playing an old family game, “Don’t Get Mad”, and truly loved her grandkids.
Katherine is survived by one daughter, Sheila (John) Pfeiffer, Jamestown; one granddaughter, Wendy (Wade) Reister, Cleveland, ND; two step-grandchildren, Christina, New Rockford, ND and Michelle (Lane) Koenig, New Rockford; one great-granddaughter, Majestic Bjerke, Jamestown; three step-great grandchildren, Terik, Kalli, and Keegan, New Rockford; four step-children, Miles, Mark, Bob, and Jan; one brother, Steve, Yuma, AZ; one sister, Adeline Theisen, Las Vegas, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; five sisters; three husbands; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Rudolph.
Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Suzanne Orlopp officiating.
