Ejvin Mikkelsen, age 92, of Lisbon, ND, formerly of Sanborn and Valley City, ND, died Saturday, June 15th at the Lisbon Hospital, Lisbon, ND. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 19th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sanborn, ND. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and one hour before the service on Wednesday, all at the church in Sanborn, ND. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at the Church in Sanborn. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Sanborn, ND.
Ejvin Mikkelsen, the son of Sigvart and Karen (Vester) Mikkelsen, was born June 6, 1921 in Trustup, Denmark. At the age of three, he and his family came to the United States. The family first moved to Luverne, ND and then to the Valley City, ND area. Ejvin attended school at Alderman and at Green Township Schools. After receiving his education, he worked for various farmers. In December, 1942 he joined the US Army and served his country in the 101st Airborne during World War II. The service took Ejvin to Kansas, Maryland and to Europe. After his discharge, he came back to North Dakota and began farming. In 1947 he married Jean Naset. They farmed in both Valley City and in Marion, ND. In 1972, they moved to Sanborn, ND where Ejvin worked for Geisler’s Implement and Dietrich’s in Valley City until his retirement. His wife passed away in May, 2000. In the Spring of 2002, Ejvin moved to Hankinson, ND and later returned to Valley City in the fall of 2003 where he lived until moving to the North Dakota Veteran’s Home in Lisbon, ND.
Ejvin is survived by his three sons, James (Caroline) Mikkelsen, Hankinson, ND, Steve Mikkelsen, Mercer, ND and Mike (Kris) Mikkelsen, Argusville, ND; one daughter, Joann (Jerome) Jorgenson, Wahpeton, ND; one sister, Gudrun (Maurice) Sauer, Clarkston, WA; four grandchildren, Anthony Mikkelsen, Brett Jorgenson, Brandi Jorgenson and Katelynn Mikkelsen;
5 step-grandchildren, Noah and Grace Trangsrud, Wendy Eggers, April Quistorff, Dan Roeder; 11 Great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson, Jax Geffre; two sister-in-laws, Vivian Weist, Fargo, ND and Claire Naset, Spokane, WA; his special friend, Arla Trucke, Valley City, ND.
Ejvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one son Douglas.
