(NewsDakota.com)- Former VCSU and Jamestown High baseball coach Cory Anderson has been named the first commissioner of the North Star Athletic Conference. The NSAA will officially be operational by the beginning of July with four former members of the DAC and Presentation College.
The five charter members; Jamestown College, Valley City State, Mayville State, Dakota State, and Presentation College, will begin play in the fall. Dickinson State has accepted an invitation to join as the sixth member in 2014.
The conference was recently recognized by the NAIA.
Anderson, who is a 1989 graduate of Valley City State, was most recently the Executive Director of the James River YMCA. He spent four years as the head baseball coach at Jamestown High after serving as the Vikings head man.
“We are so pleased that Cory Anderson is joining the NSAA as its first commissioner. Cory brings a tremendous breadth and depth of relevant experiences to our new conference,” VCSU President Steven Shirley said in a release issued by the NSAA. “We anticipate a bright future and continued growth within the North Star that will benefit student-athletes and supporters of all our institutions, and are confident in Cory’s abilities to lead the conference forward.”
