(NewsDakota.com)- Jamestown High sophomore Sierra Bennion won the North Dakota Golf Association girls junior championship yesterday in Bismarck. Playing at Tom O’Leary Golf Course she came storming back from four shots down after Day 1 to claim the title.
Bennion, who finished fourth in the state this fall, shot a second round 71 to turn a four-shot deficit into a four-shot victory. Kathleen Marsh of Fargo was the leader after Day 1 with a 75, but her 79 on Day 2 opened the door for Bennion.
Bennion will be a sophomore this fall for the Blue Jays. She won her first varsity meet in Mandan on September 11th, 2012.
Jake DeForest, fresh of his Individual State Title, won the boys side with a 140 (73-67).
