JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Competitors from all over the world are coming to Jamestown June 21st to compete in this off-road festival this year.

Events in this year’s Off-Road Festival include a trail run, two triathlon’s, a mountain bike race, and new to the festival this year is an open water swim.

Steve Aesoph, founder of the festival, is excited for this years events.

“Each race offers a unique challenge and has a unique aspect to it.”

The event was created in 2009 and had twelve participants.

“I e-mailed Xterra to see what it took to be added to their calender and the event was added in 2010.”

In it’s first year, it was the fifth highest rated race on their calender. In 2012, it was the highest rated event on the tour out of 75 races across the country and had over 90 participants.

“We have competitors from all over the nation coming to compete.” Steve said.

Over the last four years, 22 states and 3 countries have been represented. The cash prize is also a nice incentive to participate.

“We have one of the biggest prize purses of any of the Non-Championship races with over 3,000 dollars in cash and prizes.”

The Long Course includes a 1000 meter swim, a 13 mile mountain bike race, and a 5 mile trail run. Steve says it will be pretty intense.
