Dakota (NewsDakota.com) – North Dakota Triple-A spokesman Gene Laducer says a new study? ?released today,? ?shows an increased access to technology is creating an increased level of “?cognitive distraction” ?for drivers.? ?Laducer says the study shows that while technology increasingly becomes more hand-free,? ?it is still causing distractions—and in turn more accidents and more deaths.

Laducer says one surprising finding in the study is the fact that? ?90-percent of those surveyed understand the dangers of doing things like texting while driving,? ?but one-in-four respondents admitted to sending a text message while driving in the past month.

The distracted driving study was conducted by the Triple-A Foundation,? ?and researchers at the University of Utah.
