(NewsDakota.com)- In the span of 14 hours the Jamestown baseball team had to face off against the two best pitchers in the EDC. After getting no-hit by Camran Bonnema last night, the Jays were matched up against Davies’ Casey Quinlan. Quinlan twirled six innings of one-hit ball en route a 3-1 Eagles victory.

Jamestown scored first when Jake Stilwell broke up a nine-inning team hit-less strike with a single to right field. After a pair of steals, he scored on a throwing error by the catcher Brock Horner.

Davies was able to tie the games in the same inning after Quinlan reached on an infield single. He came around to score on a throwing error the Jays pitcher Joey Gebhardt. Gebhardt stranded a runner on third in that second inning.

Gebhardt and Quinlan matched zeros for the next four innings before the Eagles broke through in the sixth. A walk, sacrifice and then three straight hits put Davies up 3-1.

Eric Peterson was brought on to pitch the 7th and he retired the Jays in order to end the game.

Jamestown will play the loser of Minot/Bismarck tomorrow at 11:30am in the 7th place game. That game will be on 1400 KQDJ and NewsDakota.com.
