Karen Nicholson, age 39, of Valley City, ND, died Tuesday, May 28th at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 1st at Epworth United Methodist Church in Valley City with Reverend Dayne Zachrison officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the church and one hour before the service on Saturday afternoon. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Valley City.

     Karen Michelle Nicholson, the daughter of DuWayne and Judy (Haugen) Nicholson, was born September 14, 1973 in Valley City. Karen grew up and attended school in Valley City and graduated from Valley City High School in 1992. While attending high school, Karen began working at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. Karen worked as a CNA and later began working as an office assistant where she worked at the time of her death. Karen loved music, especially singing in the Epworth United Methodist Church Choir, caring for other people and spending time with her family and friends.

     Karen is survived by her mother Judy, Valley City, ND; one sister, Dawn (Christopher) Nathan; two nephews, Cade and Emmot Nathan, all Sioux Falls, SD; one aunt, Barbara Haugen (Craig Chase) Fort Ransom, ND; five cousins, Lhonda (Bob) Lewis, Fargo, ND; Liesa (John) Stibbe, Fargo, ND; John Haugen, Valley City, ND; Jennifer (Johns) Dufner, Buxton, ND and Cory (Heather) Haugen, Jamestown, ND.

     Karen was preceded in death by her father DuWayne Nicholson, two uncles, Dennis Haugen and H. Todd Haugen and one infant cousin Mark Haugen.
