CITY (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City golfer Jared Lentz qualified for the Class A State Meet during an individual qualifying tournament Friday at Dakota Winds Golf Course.

Lentz carded an 84 on the round, just seven shots off the 77 of medalist Riley Johnson (West Fargo). Being within 10 shots of the winner qualified Lentz for the state meet in June.

As a team, Valley City was shorthanded at the meet and finished in 10th place with a 399. Ian Schweitzer shot a 90, Levi Nix had a 101, and Jacob Wendel finished with a 124.

Up next for Valley City is the EDC Regional Meet on Wednesday at Dakota Winds Golf Course.
