CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Hi-Liner girls tennis team wrapped up a very good season this weekend at the State Tennis Tournament in Grand Forks.

Valley City was unable to pick up a place at the State Tournament. They lost their two team matches by scores of 3-2 Thursday, and then both their doubles teams were eliminated fairly early.

Claire Olson and Destiny Winkler were upset in the first round of the Doubles State Tournament on Friday, but stayed alive in consolation play with a victory over their teammates Sam Coit and Sara Gilbertson, who had also lost their first match.

Olson and Winkler would go on to lose their first match on Saturday in the second round of consolation play.

For Jamestown, Kara Fix lost her first round singles matchup in straight sets, but bounced back with a three-set win in consolation play. She then lost out in her second consolation match.
