CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City fastpitch softball team avenged one of its earlier losses this season with a dominating 14-1 win Thursday night against Devils Lake, led by a big night from Jessica Denholm.

Denholm pitched all five innings, allowing just five hits and one run while striking out seven. She also led the offense with three hits, four runs and two RBIs.

Valley City is now 11-6 overall. They are currently 8-4 in the EDC, tied with Devils Lake for third in the standings. Valley City has a chance to move up the standings today when they play a two-point EDC game at Fargo North. The Spartans are currently 10-2 in the EDC.

VC Baseball Ends with Win
The Valley City baseball team wrapped up the regular season with its first win of the season during a doubleheader Thursday night with Wahpeton.

Valley City dropped the first game at Charlie Brown Field by a score of 15-1, but bounced back wtih a 7-4 win in the second game. Valley City scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and held the lead throughout. The Hi-Liners end the regular season with a 1-13 record.
