CITY (NewsDakota.com) – Both the Valley City baseball and fastpitch softball teams were in action Tuesday evening in Grand Forks.
The Hi-Liner fastpitch team came home with a 18-9 victory over Grand Forks Central, improving their overall record to 10-6. Valley City is also 8-4 in EDC play, and is part of a handful of teams grouped in the top half of the EDC standings.
Danica Diegel and Dierra Diegel each had four hits on Tuesday, part of a 23-hit game for the Hi-Liners. Paula Andel pitched the entire seven innings for Valley City, allowing 10 hits and nine runs, but only three earned runs.
The Hi-Liners are back in action Thursday with a home non-conference game against Devils Lake at 4:30 p.m.
In baseball action Tuesday, Valley City was swept during a split doubleheader in Grand Forks. The Hi-Liners lost to Grand Forks Central 20-6, and then lost to Red River 20-0. The Hi-Liners have their final home game of the season on Thursday when they host Wahpeton for a 5 p.m. doubleheader.
