CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The fire danger index has been reduced from the extreme to the high category today. Valley City Rural Fire Chief Gary Retterath said, “there are some restrictions yet for burning, but don’t relax the proper burning procedures.

Several grass fires ignited statewide yesterday. One grass fire burned out some slews south of Marion on Tuesday according to Litchville Marion rural fire fighter Gary Hanson.

Hanson said the grass fire was not purposely set but again may have started from one that was put out and re-ignited due to the high wind. Hanson said no structures were burned in the Tuesday grass fire.
