CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Evan Haglund placed 4th in the state and that was good enough for him to advance to the national competition in Washington D.C. last week.
Haglund said the competition was tough at the national level but he looks forward to having another shot at it again. Haglund told the Valley City City School board after the competition he was able to see a number of monuments and his favorite was the Lincoln Memorial.
Haglund’s Math Counts coach was Trevor Hansen. He told the board that it was the first time a Valley City student place as high as 4th place in the state competition and was also the first to compete at the national level.
