funeral service for Myrtle Verduin, 98, Fargo, ND, formerly Litchville, ND, will be 2:00 PM, Monday, May 13, 2013 at the First Reformed Church, Litchville. Rev. Paul Peterson will officiate with burial in the Litchville Cemetery.Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Myrtle Irene Carlson was born October 28, 1914 on the family farm of Frank and Sophie (Sorby) Carlson, Hastings, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Spring Creek Lutheran Church. Myrtle attended and was a graduate of Hastings High School. As a young lady, she moved to Fargo, ND where she did housekeeping, prepared meals and nannied. She also worked at the County Hospital. Later, she moved to Sioux City, IA, continuing to work in housekeeping.

On November 16, 1942, she married Harold J. TenPas. They farmed in the Litchville area until his death in 1963. She continued living on the farm.
On October 18, 1969, she married Clarence C. Verduin in Litchville, ND. They farmed until retiring in 1987. She and Clarence traveled to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, and California. They enjoyed many visits to relatives and hosted the annual Carlson and Verduin family reunions on the 4th of July and first Sunday in August for many years. In 2004, they moved to Bethany Homes in Fargo, ND. He died May 13, 2004.

 
Myrtle was a member of the First Reformed Church, Litchville, where she was a Sunday School teacher and secretary-treasurer of the Reformed Church Women. Her main enjoyment was bowling. She also liked to scrapbook and make latch hook rugs.
Myrtle died at Bethany Homes in Fargo on May 10, 2013 while under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

She is survived by her daughters, Arlee (Richard) Schmidt of West Fargo, ND and Renee (Michael) Walvatne of Ham Lake, MN; 6 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; a sister, Ethel Hughes of Guttenberg, IA; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; brothers, William, Harry, and Louie; and sisters, Ellen Schrieber, Lillie Wilson, and Elfie Ericson.
