CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City girls tennis team won its third match in a row Tuesday night, beating Fargo North 6-3 in Valley City.
Valley City won three of the five matches that went to three sets, which ended up being the difference in the team match.
“The girls showed up ready to play,” said head coach Matt Nielson. “They deserve all the credit. They moved well in doubles. They wanted the ball. They played smart and consistent. They believe in themselves and each other. They have a great attitude. They are very coachable. They pulled out a match that was very tight.”
Clarissa Olson won at No. 1 singles in the third set. Destiny Winkler and Sara Gilbertson won their singles matches in straight sets, and Reagan Ingstad won in three sets at No. 6 singles.
Olson and Winkler teamed up for a win at No. 1 doubles, as did Sam Coit and Sara Gilbertson at No. 2 doubles.
