(NewsDakota.com) The LaMoure-Litchville/Marion baseball team lost big in their first game on Tuesday to Central Cass, but made up for it with their first victory in Region I play later in the day.

The first game saw the visiting squirrels have an easy time raking up runs and hits against LLM’s Parker Stemen. Martin Ausk and Chad Rehovsky each hit three-run home runs in the victory, while Garrett Ebach had three doubles and three runs scored. The only runs for the Loboes came from Stemen and Drew Theliges in the second inning.

Mitch Scheer earned the win for Central Cass, who also defeated Kindred/Richland later in the afternoon 5-1 to improve to a perfect 3-0 start against Region I competition.

In the last game of the day, the Loboes scored the first five runs of the contest. The Vikings came close to a seventh inning comeback, but stranded two runners on base in the end, including the tying run.

Jared Meiklejohn earned his first win of the year for the Loboes, who are now 1-2 in regional play, allowing eight hits while striking out five. Fletcher Andel took the loss for the Vikings, now at 4-3 in region play. Meiklejohn added two hits to help his cause and scored a run. 

LLM will take part in another triangular on Thursday on the campus of Northern Cass High School in Hunter. The Loboes will face the hometown Jaguars for the first time this season at 2 p.m., followed by a rematch with Central Cass 20 minutes after.
