CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Hi-Liner varsity baseball team has its home opener Tuesday night when West Fargo comes to town for a doubleheader.

First pitch is set for 5 p.m. between the Hi-Liners and Packers at Charlie Brown Baseball Field.

Valley City (0-4) is coming off a pair of losses at Fargo North on Monday night. North racked up 11 hits and 12 runs in the conference game as they won 12-0. Offensively, Valley City was led by Austen Meyer and Brett Stearns. Meyer had a double and a walk, and Stearns went 1-for-2.

Spencer Meyer started on the mound and went three innings. He gave up nine earned runs and struck out one. Dalton Ondracek pitched an inning in relief, allowing two runs, neither of which was earned.

In game two, Valley City managed just one hit off the bat of Austen Meyer in a 10-0 loss. Ben Baasch was the starting pitcher and worked 2 1/3 innings. He gave up just two hits, but walked five and allowed three earned runs. Masyn Olson pitched two innings in relief, allowing six hits and five earned runs.

Up next: Valley City hosts West Fargo on Tuesday night, 5 p.m. at Charlie Brown Field in Valley City.
