(NewsDakota.com)- The Jimmie baseball team, which has won 20 of their last 21, will hit the road to Oklahoma City for the opening round of the NAIA National Baseball Tournament.
Their opponent in the opening round will be a somewhat familiar one, the Northwestern College Red Raiders. The two teams played in 2012 down in Arizona during their spring break trips. They split the games with NWC winning the opener 12-7 and JC taking the second game 4-2.
Jimmies are the site’s No. 5 seed with the Red Raiders as the No. 4. The top three-seeds at each sites technically get a bye. Oklahoma City, the host, is the No. 1 they will play the NWC/JC winner. Sterling (KS) and Science & Arts (OK) are the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds respectively.
Game time is 11am on Thursday. If the Jimmies win they would play Oklahoma City at 6pm Thursday and if they lose they will play the Sterling/S&A loser at 11am on Friday.
Play begin Thursday at the nine different sites. The winner of each site and the host Lewis-Clark (ID) receive bids to the NAIA World Series in two weeks.
The Jimmies went to the World Series in 2004 and 2008. This is their sixth national tournament appearance in school history, all under Tom Hager.
