N.D. (AP) – A project to grow lettuce in a large greenhouse near Jamestown is seeking more than million in backing from local agencies including the Jamestown/Stutsman Development Corp. and the South Central Dakota Regional Council.
The “Endless Harvest” hopes to grow lettuce for markets around the upper Midwest. The first phase of construction would include a 2.7-acre greenhouse, along with an administration area and classrooms for teaching about greenhouse operations.
The first phase would cost about $11 million. Some funds already have been raised through a loan and private investor. Possible future phases would be funded through operation profits.
