CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Sheyenne River levels should be manageable this spring due to favorable snow melt conditions according to U-S Army Corps of Engineer Bald Hill Dam Resource manager Rich Schueneman. He gave newsdakota.com the latest update on the situation on Monday.

On Friday city and county officials along the Sheyenne River breathed a sigh of relief over the good news concerning the spring flood conditions.

Barnes County Commissioner Jon Frohlich said that’s great news for Barnes County bridges.

Valley City Mayor Bob Werkhoven was excited about the cautiously optimistic report.

Barnes County Commission President Eldred Knutson said he was skeptical of some flood forecasts.

Schueneman says if there is no significant precipitation over the next 3 weeks, Bald Hill Dam will release about 2,000 cfs starting on Sunday or Monday.

Schueneman said it appears that river levels will not affect bridges in Barnes County this spring.
