N.D. (AP) – The internal audit director for the North Dakota University System has resigned. Bill Eggert calls the position a dead-end job and says he’d like to move somewhere warmer than North Dakota. His last day is May 31.

Eggert recently released a report that said Chancellor Hamid Shirvani did not violate any policies or commit fraud in testimony he gave to a House committee. But Eggert said Shirvani’s presentation could have been construed as misleading. Eggert says the report has nothing to do with his resignation.

Eggert has held the post for just more than two years. Shortly after being hired, Eggert issued a report that found Dickinson State University awarded hundreds of degrees to foreign students who didn’t earn them.
