Muriel Mardell Bjerke, 84, Valley City, ND, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, April 27, 2013. She died in her home, lovingly surrounded by her family.

     Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 30, at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, 251 Central Ave S, Valley City, ND.

     Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 1, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 138 3rd St NW, Valley City, ND, with Pastor Emmy Isaackson officiating. Burial will be at Beaver Creek Cemetery, Hatton, ND.

     Muriel was born August 29, 1928 in Hatton, ND, the daughter of Selmer and Mabel (Brenna) Huus. She attended school in Hatton, ND.

     She married LeVern Bjerke June 25, 1948. They lived and farmed near Hatton until moving to Valley City, ND in 1960.

     Her greatest wish was to pass on her deep faith in God to her children and grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Valley City.

     Muriel is survived by her children: Karen Kratz, Valley City, Jack (Diane) Bjerke (Diane) Valley City, Cathy (Dean) Nagel, Las Vegas, NV, Loren Bjerke, Valley City, Judy (Hal) Estenson, Warwick, ND, and Vickie (Thomas) Reardon, Eagan, MN; 15 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 step great grandchildren; sisters: Lorraine Mehus, Valley City, Darlene Hanson, St Cloud, MN, Deb (Ron) Huus-Peterson, Valley City, Linda Bass, Fargo, ND, and Jaci (Vince) Herrera, Round Rock, TX; brothers: Duane Huus, Emrick, ND, Steve Huus, Bismarck, ND, Mike (Theresa) Huus, Austin, TX, Joe Huus, New Salem, ND, Doran (Kathy) Huus, Mandan, ND, and Tim (JayDeen) Huus, Gillette, WY; and step-brothers: Robert Bristlin, Valley City and Ken Bristlin, San Antonio, TX.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Selmer Huus Jr.; a sister, Elaine Kelley; a daughter, Janet Renae Bjerke; two grandsons, Josh Nielsen and Zayne Bjerke; and a daughter-in-law, Nicci Bjerke.
