Nelda Alyce Amundson, 91, died peacefully in her home at The Heritage Center on April 23, 2013. Nelda was born in Jamestown, ND on July 13, 1921 to Frank and Florence Van Keuren. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1939 and worked several years for Rhodes Jewelry. She married Earl Amundson on December 21, 1944. They made their home in rural Jamestown where she raised their two children and supported Earl’s farming endeavors. Nelda was active in homemakers, her church circle, and was a leader in her children’s activities. In her later years she enjoyed china and oil painting as well as many crafts. After retirement she and Earl wintered in Arizona and Utah. She especially enjoyed watching her favorite Minnesota Twins with her great-grandchildren.

     Nelda is survived by two sisters, Phyllis Brannon of New Port Beach, California and Kay Detloff of Azusa, California. She is also survived by her children, Jane Amundson (Robert Walkinshaw) of Arboles, Colorado and Van (Patricia) Amundson of Jamestown; grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Amundson and Amy (Marty) Walters, all of Jamestown. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Mason, Jackson, and Edison Walters and Sully Amundson, and several nieces and nephews.

     Nelda was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Margaret and brother Gilbert. She was also preceded in death by her husband Earl.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Ave Maria Village Chapel Fund or the American Heart Association.

     Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 29, 2013 at Grace Episcopal Church, Jamestown, ND with Father Bart Davis officiating.

     Visitation: None scheduled.

     Interment: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
