CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City officials requested a declaration of emergency with the U-S Army Corps of Engineers Friday to pave the way for spring flood protection effort if needed. Mayor Bob Werkhoven said the city will determine what action to take later this week.
Bald Hill Dam Resource manager Rich Schueneman said the U.S Army Corps of Engineers will help the city.
Werkhoven said the situation is lot better this year compared to 2011 and 2009.
Last week the National Weather Service said there was a 50 percent chance the Sheyenne River could reach nearly 17 feet.
