(NewsDakota.com)  The City of Carrington is looking at the possibility of moving the Foster County Fairgrounds across the street to make way for some new housing developments.  The City has already purchased 30 acres of land directly across from the current fairgrounds and is looking at the possibility of moving the fairgrounds on it.

Mayor Don Frye and Carrington Economic Developer James Linderman gave a presentation today at City Hall on the feasibility of both options.  Option A would cost $1.3 million and would include moving the fairgrounds across the street to the newly purchased 30 acres.  Then on the original fairgrounds, there would be room for up to 38 new houses, 2 apartment complexes and six more options for new development.  Option B would cost $2.5 million and would include keeping the fairgrounds where they currently reside and build new houses on the newly purchased 30 acres across the street.  A total of 54 new houses could be built but no apartment complexes.  Both Option A & Option B costs are for infrastructure only.

This is in the first level of discussion, blueprints and new layouts are being presented to the Foster County Fair Board for their discussion.  If the fair board decides to move the fairgrounds, they have the option of moving the current buildings at an estimated cost of $89,000, which includes just moving the buildings, other costs would have to be factored in such as cement, etc…  Or they could put up new ones at the 30 acre site.
