Jane Elizabeth Hass was born October 5, 1918, the daughter of Ethel “Blondie” (Magnuson) and William Hass, Sr. She was baptized at her home on November 10, 1918. Jane attended elementary school at Getchell School and Alderman School. In 1935, she graduated from Grand Prairie High School.
On October 2, 1937, she was united in marriage to Leonard C. Olson. Jane worked various places over the years, including Land ‘O Lakes, cooking at Noltimier School, and for 43 years at the Sheyenne Care Center. She also did Home Health Care for a time. All in all, she was content to be a wife and mother. Leonard died March 18, 1986.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was in the Martha Circle and Alter Guild. She belonged to Homemakers for several years and the Neighborhood Birthday Club, which met for 52 years.
Jane died at the Sheyenne Care Center on April 14, 2013. She is survived by her three children, Darrell L. (Jan) Olson, Diane (Tom) Peterson both of Lancaster, CA, and Deanna (Jim) Arneson of Valley City; daughter-in-law, Eloise (Mrs. Dale E.) Olson of Valley City; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; and 2 brothers, William (Aggie) of Valley City and Walter (Jean) of Milwaukee, WI.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; son, Dale; two brothers, Robert and Edward; and two sisters, Margaret and Mildred.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Altar Guild or Martha Circle, Sheyenne Care Center, or to the Anne Carlson School.
The funeral service for Jane E. Olson, 94, Valley City will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City. Visitation will be the hour prior to the service. Rev. Dan Forsberg will officiate and burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Valley City.
