DC- U.S. Senator Heidi Heitkamp said, “I am disappointed in a number of the President’s budget proposals, specifically the lack of funding for the Fargo-Moorhead diversion project. At a time when the city is preparing to fight another flood, now is not the time to be eliminating funding to advance this permanent flood protection project.”

Heitkamp added, “I have serious concerns over the cuts to agriculture spending, which amount to $37.8 billion over 10 years by increasing the cost of crop insurance, limiting farm safety net programs and reducing enrollments in conservation programs. Our farmers, ranchers, consumers, and rural communities deserve better. But the President’s budget proposal is far from the last word. In the weeks ahead, I will be working vigorously with Senator Hoeven and my colleagues as the appropriations process gets underway to press for continued funding for the Fargo-Moorhead project as well as our agricultural programs.”
