N.D. (AP) – The North Dakota Legislature says electronic stun guns should not be listed as a dangerous weapon under state law.

North Dakota’s Senate endorsed a measure 46-1 Monday that exempts the zapping devices from the definition of a dangerous weapon. The House overwhelmingly endorsed the measure 92-0 last week.

Bismarck Republican Sen. Margaret Sitte (SIHT’-ee) says stun guns are becoming increasingly popular with women who live in western North Dakota’s booming oil patch.
