N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Two state Senate committees have now endorsed a plan to expand Medicaid – to cover uninsured North Dakotans.
Medicaid expansion is part of the federal affordable care act. It would be 100-percent federally paid for to begin with, and later the federal share would drop to 90 percent.
The Senate Human Services Committee had earlier endorsed it on a 6-to-1 vote. The Senate Appropriations Committee has now voted 7 to 6 to give it a “do-pass” recommendation.
Jamestown Senator Terry Wanzek was one of the “no” votes in Senate Appropriations. He says the expansion idea raises a lot of questions.
The measure will likely be on the Senate floor next week.
