CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Once a year in the early spring the city picks a Valley City student to be “Mayor For A Day.”

This year it was Tyler Compson. City officials read a number of essays and Mayor Bob Werkhoven said, “we have a hard time deciding who will be a winner every year.”

Werkhoven said Tyler’s advocated in his essay that city workers should get a raise for all of their hard work. Werkhoven said that brought smiles to the faces on a number of people in city hall and Tyler’s essay was selected.
