Kala Bercier, 35, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of Gackle, ND died suddenly from a bacterial infection on April 1, 2013 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

     Kala Schroeder was born on December 13, 1977, in Jamestown, the daughter of Loren and Peggy (Kienzle) Schroeder. She was raised on a farm north of Gackle and graduated from Gackle-Streeter High School in 1996. Kala attended Jamestown College and graduated in 2001 with a degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice. She married Dale Bercier in 2000 and they made their home in Jamestown.

     Kala began working at the Stutsman County Correctional Center in 2001, and was presently employed by Great Plains Directory since 2004.

     She was a member of Temple Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school, was active in small groups, and an AWANA leader. Kala lived her life for her children and was active with their events. She was a Girl Scout leader and coached little league soccer with the Park & Rec. Kala loved going to her children’s choir and band concerts, their sporting or performing arts events, and playing board games.

     She is survived by her children, Matthias and Grace Bercier, Jamestown, Nick Bercier, a student at UND, Grand Forks, and Lauren Bercier, Jamestown; parents, Loren and Peggy Schroeder, Gackle; sister, Tanya Schroeder, Jamestown; aunts, LuVerne Jarski, Jamestown and Cecelia Glinz, Jamestown; an uncle, Lynn Schroeder, Jamestown; and a special friend, Tim Walch and his daughter, Amber, Jamestown.

     Kala was preceded in death by her grandparents, Art & Alice Kienzle and Lorenz and Lydia Schroeder.

     Funeral – 3:00 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown, with Rev. Randy Jasper officiating.

     Visitation – 1:00 p.m., to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Williams-Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown.

     Prayer Service – 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church, Jamestown.

     Interment – Gackle Cemetery, Gackle, ND, at a later date.
