N.D. (AP) – A 20-year-old North Dakota State University student has pleaded guilty to concocting a story about being abducted and raped.

Mary Gullickson pleaded guilty Thursday to misdemeanor charges of providing false information to law enforcement. She received a one-year suspended sentence and a year of supervised probation. She must also cover the cost of the investigation.

Authorities say Gullickson told campus police that a man wearing a ski mask forced her into a vehicle in a parking lot and sexually assaulted her. The report prompted a community alert.

But after police investigated, authorities say Gullickson was involved in a rape fantasy she set up with another man through Craigslist.

Authorities sent out an email to students saying there was no threat to the campus or surrounding area.
