N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The 38-year-old Lidgerwood woman charged with threatening Bismarck state Senator Margaret Sitte made her first court appearance on Thursday.

Nicolette Knudson  is charged with threatening a public servant by email and a phone call to Sitte February 27, threatening to allegedly kill Sitte.

The Bismarck lawmaker proposed a bill that would have limited the number of embryos that could be stored in the case of women fighting cancer or attempting In Vitro Fertilization. Knudson was attempting to use the procedure to get pregnant.

Knudson also faces misdemeanor drug charges after authorities found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in her home when she was arrested on Wednesday.

If convicted, she could get up to 5 years in prison, a $5,000 fine or both.
