Eleanor Reitan, age 86 of Valley City, ND died March 20, 2013 at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday March 27, 2013 at the Sheyenne Care Center Chapel with Virginia Davy officiating. Inurnment will take place in Memory Gardens Cemetery later in the spring.

     Eleanor Janette Reitan was born July 28, 1926 in Fargo, ND the daughter of Joel and Theoline (Albertson) Reitan. She lived with her family at various places before moving to Valley City. She attended school at the Beaver School near Page, ND and then completed her high school curriculum by correspondence. She worked with her father in his blacksmith shop in Valley City and in her 20’s moved to Minneapolis, MN and later to California. She remained in California until the 1970’s when she returned to help care for her father. She was employed at Crawford’s Café until her retirement. In the fall of 2004 she moved to the Sheyenne Care Center. Eleanor enjoyed her cat, doing crossword puzzles, making decorative rugs from plastic holders, and spending time working in her flower garden.

     She is survived by a son Victor Reitan and a grandson Jacob Reitan both of Valley City; 5 brothers, Julius, John, Alvin, Benny, and Tom; and 3 sisters, Thelma Greb, Clara Knutson, and Rosanna Torgeson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
