(NewsDakota.com) – Karleigh Weber hit a game-winning 3 at the buzzer as Thompson stunned Napoleon 54-53 to win third place Saturday night at the Class B State girls basketball tournament.

Shania Gross hit two 3’s in the final two minutes to help Napoleon to a 53-51 lead, but the Imperials missed two free throws with 20 seconds left and then turned the ball over with 7 seconds remaining in the game.

That gave Thompson a shot to tie or win, and Weber went for the win, knocking down a contested 3 from the right wing to beat the buzzer at the Fargodome.

Weber led Thompson with 17 points, including 13 in the second half.

Napoleon was led by 16 from Sheridon Dewald, 11 from Kendra Weigel and 10 from Gross.

The Imperials end the season with a 23-3 record and took fourth place in their first appearance at the state tournament since 1983.
